About
What is an Action Potential?
The term "Action Potential" describes the proper balance of electrical charges within a neuron (brain cell) that causes it to fire. Depending on the characteristics and placement of the neuron, its firing can result in movement or learning, both of which may be necessary for optimal human functioning. Often, one neuron's action potential results in a series of action potentials in nearby neurons, as they connect at the synapse. Like the firing of neurons that takes place inside your central nervous system, the objective of Action Potential Advantage is to help you ignite the spark that helps propel you toward your best self.

About Sport and Performance Psychology
Sport and Performance Psychology involves the application of mental skills training and/or team-building to optimize performance for individuals and groups. Sport and performance psychology is performed by licensed psychologists who have training in sport and performance psychology, as well as human development, psychological wellness, brain health, assessment, and mental health. In short, we are trained to understand the whole athlete, performer, and/or leader and are better able to identify when mental skills training is not enough.

Sport and performance psychologists can also help you work through the life, relationship, career, grief and loss, and mental health concerns that may be affecting both your performance and your personal well-being.

Sport and performance psychology is for anyone who wants to perform at their best-- it's not just for elite athletes, performers and CEOs. In fact, many of the skills learned through mental skills training are transferable to other areas of life, including academics and career. Research on Sport and Performance Psychology has shown that it can help people develop mental toughness, experience better performance, have more peak performance experiences, decrease performance jitters or freezing, improve injury recovery, and experience more enjoyment. Sport and Performance Psychology techniques can help teams (of athletes, performers, or coworkers) communicate and function better.
