Health and Wellness Coaching

What is Health and Wellness Coaching?
Health and wellness coaching is a relatively new profession that is focused on helping people make health behavior changes-- like when your doctor tells you to exercise more or eat healthier, but you struggle to get started or stay consistent.

Health and wellness coaches help you set goals, make plans, and take action on the health and wellness recommendations made by your healthcare provider (e.g., doctor, PT, dietitian, nurse, etc.) or chosen by you.
Who is Health and Wellness Coaching for?
Health and wellness coaching is for anyone who is trying to make a health or wellness behavior change, but is struggling to get started or stay consistent. It is really for anyone who wants to change habits related to their health and wellness.

A lot of research on weight-loss medicines and surgical techniques suggest that behavior change is essential for people to achieve the maximum health benefit. Changing life-long behaviors related to diet and exercise can be tough. Having a plan and a person to help you manage setback and hurdles can help to keep you on track and motivated.

Health and wellness coaching is not just for helping you set goals and take action on the diet and exercise recommended by your healthcare professional. Health and wellness coaching can be helpful in addressing other lifestyle behaviors that have been recommended to or chosen by you.

Health and wellness coaching is not therapy, so if you are struggling with emotional eating, disordered eating, overexercise, body dysmorphia, addiction, or related conditions, it's important that you see a medical or mental health professional with that specialty.
